Hello All! MY Name is Charisma Joy. I am a 22 year old College Student who was born in Califorina but raised in Arizona. I enjoy learning, yoga, music, gaming, and reading books. This blog will be used for my MCO425.

  • My Media Use

This is an exercise I assign to students in my Digital Media Literacy course at Arizona State University.

This is a brief idea of what type of media I use throughout my day to day. I tend to not like to be on the computer or electronics because my whole job is working on the computer.

6 am: I wake up and look at Tik Tok for a few minutes. I know that I am not supposed to when I wake up. However, for me it helps me find some sort of motivation in the morning for me to go to work.

6:15am: I am up and now getting ready for my day. I am listening to music to help me wake up on Spotify and thinking about what I want to do after work. I keep playing music just to keep myself busy and stay focused.

7:45 am: I am now at work and opening emails on Outlook. Trying to see what is new. This is the main way to communicate with each other at my job. I am also trying to see if I need to continue doing tasks that may have gone unfinished or if a new task needs to get started. I am also greeting my coworkers via Microsoft Teams to see if anything major happened before I got in.

8 am- 12 pm: I’ve done everything that I could. It has been a very slow season so there is not a lot for me and my coworkers to do. We all end up looking at things on our phones. I am primarily watching more videos on Tik Tok or scrolling on Pinterest to see if I can find any DIY projects or dinner ideas for me and my partner.

12-12:30 pm: I am on lunch at this point, and I am watching anime on Crunchyroll. I pay a subscription to watch as much anime as I want. I have been watching Gorilla God’s Go To Girl because it gives me a good laugh and I always love a good romance anime.

12:30-4pm: I have talked with my coworkers about the goals for the next couple of days via Microsoft teams and Outlook. We finished up all we needed to do for the day, and we are now going home. I am playing music on Spotify on my way home.

5pm-7pm: I am watching things on YouTube, mainly people playing video games or do Yoga at this time. I also love watching Travel videos with my partner so we can have some sort of idea of what we want to do in the future. It is also fun for me to vicariously live through others, even though this is a bad habit of mine.

8pm: I start reading books on my Kindle. My Kindle has been my biggest lifesaver when it comes to reading and having an electronic version of my books on the go or even at home. It also helps me not spend too much money on books as I currently have a full library.  I currently am reading the Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. I do love reading about Greek Mythology and it helps me relax.

8:30 pm- 9 pm: I am playing my favorite movie Finding Nemo to go to sleep. It helps me fall asleep because I do have insomnia. I love looking at the ocean, so this movie has been a big help for me through the past couple of years to get some sleep.
